Refunds and Transfers for Cooking Classes: Because perishable supplies are purchased for these courses, all cancellations and transfers MUST be received 48 hours prior to the class. If a cancellation or transfer is received after the deadline, we are only able to issue refunds if we are able to fill the spot.

    


Cake Decorating 101 NEW

This basic intro class will cover frosting the cake, borders and simple decorations, using buttercream frosting.  Supply list and frosting recipe available on-line or at the CARD office.  Instructor:  Katie Hall.  CARD Community Center Kitchen.

Cakes 101 NEW

Want to WOW your friends and family with your baking skills?  Layer cakes, apple and carrot cake are tasty and will be a hit at any party!  These cakes are fun and simple to make.  $15 supply fee payable to instructor. Instructor:  Katie Hall.  CARD Community Center Kitchen.

Frosting 101  NEW

Frosting is the best part of the cake, right?  Spend a couple of hours learning to make a few different flavors and types of frosting to pair with your next cake or cookie creation.  We will make buttercream, whipped cream, cream cheese frostings and royal icing.  $15 supply fee payable to instructor. The Most Important Meal of the Day

Breakfast! Believe it or not there is a lot of technique involved in a good breakfast. Even the accomplished home cook will learn lots of new tips and tricks in this class. We will talk about the perfect egg, delicious buttermilk pancakes, quiche, many styles of breakfast potatoes, and more! In class we'll be having breakfast for dinner. The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

There isn't much better than homemade bread, and after this class, you won't want to go back to the store bought variety. We will learn all about quick breads, yeast breads, and keeping your own sourdough starter. In class, you will have the chance to have hands on style learning with bread-making in all of the different stages, and sample and take home some wonderful fresh baked treats.  Feel free to bring a beverage to enjoy with your food at the end of the class. Little bites with a big impact! Whether you plan to make a meal out of them, or want something to nosh before the main event, appetizers are a fun way to share a little something extra. We will learn all about how to make the most of that single bite, and what makes a great appetizer. In class, we will make lots of different appetizers from all over the world, and you will go home with the knowledge to throw your own successful appetizer party! Crock Pot Perfection

Your crock pot might be the most underappreciated tool in your kitchen. What else will cook your dinner for you while you're at work all day, or let you toss some ingredients in at night and have you wake up to a house full of a wonderful aroma and a hot breakfast to get your day off on the right foot? In class, you will learn how to get the most out of your crock pot with lots of different recipes and techniques, and sample several amazing crock pot cooked meals. Fresh Pasta

Water, semolina flour, salt, and eggs;  the simple recipe for magic. Fresh pasta will be a wonderful addition to your cooking repertoire! We will learn a little bit about the history of pasta and how it's made around the world, fresh vs. dried pasta, stuffed pastas, and talk all about appropriate sauces to make your pasta sing. We will be making our own fresh pasta, sauce, and ravioli to enjoy for dinner. Feel free to bring a beverage to enjoy with your food at the end of the class. Pie on Your Mind

"Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie." -David Mamet. Pie is practically an art form- A light golden crust, a sweet (but not too sweet) filling, a perfect topping to marry the two together. In class, we will learn how to make the perfect pastry crust, gram cracker crust, and a myriad of fillings and toppings to make your pie dreams come true! Meal Planning

Everyone is so busy these days, that even planning meals can be a huge chore. This class will help you with some strategies to make your weekly meals a lot easier to get onto the table. In class, we will talk about how to shop and plan for a weeks (or more) worth of food, make ahead meals, dinners that can get on the table in under half an hour, and some other techniques to cut serious time out of your cooking. We will make several wonderful dishes, and you will go home armed with lots of recipes to make your weeknights a bit simpler. Tastes Like...

Chicken is versatile, cheap... and can often be boring. This class is designed to teach you how to cook chicken in new and exciting ways that will impress your taste buds and please your wallet! In class, you will learn how to break down a whole chicken, roast a whole chicken, and learn some new cooking techniques to spice up your birds. In class, we will make and enjoy classic roast chicken and chicken piccata. There is a $15 supply fee payable to the instructor at the class. Instructor: Shayna Ozer. Fish Basics

Fish is a delicious and healthy alternative that should be on everyone's weekly menu rotation. This class will teach you all about how to purchase, store, and prepare fresh fish your whole family can enjoy. In class, we will prepare and enjoy several wonderful fish dishes (that will depend upon availability at the time of class).
